Long-time educator and citizen of Rutherfordton Dick Craft was awarded the first “I Caught You Caring” award by Mayor Dancy during the June 2, 2021, Town Council Meeting. Mr. Craft has been a long-time advocate of youth sports, the Norris Library, and his community. Over the past year, you could have found Mr. Craft over a Crestview park picking up trash as most mornings he spent cleaning up the park from the youth that leaves their signature bottles on the courts and fields. “Mr. Craft goes out of his way to help his community and to educate our youth, his steadfast commitment to keeping the community clean is to be applauded,” said Mayor Dancy. “Dick continues to go the extra mile each day removing trash from our community that should not be there to make Rutherfordton a better place to live, work, and play,” said Town Manager Doug Barrick.
As the Town launches this program, we cannot think of anyone more fitting than Mr. Craft to begin a new tradition of recognizing those that have a place in their heart for service and community. We encourage you to learn more about the “I Caught You Caring” program and to nominate those that you see displaying the qualities embodied in the program.
About The Program
The “I Caught You Caring” program is designed to recognize those who go beyond the call of duty in showing trust, care, and commitment to our community. The program was developed to acknowledge those individuals who provide exceptional service. Any employee, citizen, or organization serving the Town of Rutherfordton is open for nomination. We know that what gets rewarded gets repeated!
How It Works
Use the I Caught You Caring Program webpage to nominate someone including Town Staff, citizens, or anyone serving the Town of Rutherfordton. The completed card will be forwarded to the Town Manager & Mayor, who will recognize the recipient for their outstanding work. First-time recipients receive a challenge coin and a local gift certificate. In addition, each instance of recognition of a Town Staff member will be noted in the employee’s personnel record.
