PUBLIC NOTICE TOWN OF RUTHERFORDTON

The regular scheduled of the Rutherfordton Town Council will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at 5:30pm via an electronic meeting. The Town of Rutherfordton, Rutherford County & State of North Carolina are under a State of Emergency with provisions for social distancing, limits on gatherings, and stay at home orders. The Town under North Carolina General Statue 143-318.13 will host an electronic meeting. The meeting will be live on the Town of Rutherfordton’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/MyRutherfordton & Livestream webpage at https://livestream.com/rutherfordton

 

For those wishing to speak during public comment, there are 2 options for submitting public comments.

  1. The public can submit written comments to the Town Clerk at mshort@rutherforton.net no later than 1 hour before the start of the meeting. The Town Clerk will then read public comments into the record during the meeting.
  2. The public will be asked to contact the Town Clerk at mshort@rutherfordton.net no later than 1 hour before the start of the meeting and indicate they wish to speak during the public comment portion of the meeting. The public should arrive at Town Hall at least 5 minutes prior to the start of the scheduled meeting time. The public will be guided by staff, in the order that they signed up to speak, to make public comment on a public access computer that will be tuned in to the meeting in process with Town Council. Those wishing to make public comment in person will be subject to all social distancing requirements per the current North Carolina State of Emergency.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
ORDINANCE 07-21 NON-RESIDENTIAL MAINTENANCE CODE

In accordance with the N.C. General Statutes the Rutherfordton Town Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2021 on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. or soon thereafter in the Town Council Chambers at the Rutherfordton Town Hall, 129 North Main St, Rutherfordton NC. The purpose of the hearing is to receive public input for the proposed Non-Residential Maintenance Code.
All interested citizens are invited to attend the hearing & submit comments. In order to adhere to North Carolina Governor Cooper’s order to limit gatherings to no more than 10 people and to stay at least 6 feet apart, after making your public comment you may be requested to leave the Rutherfordton Town Hall to permit others waiting outside to come in.

A copy of the ordinance was submitted to the Town Council at their meeting on December 2, 2020 and is on file in the Town Clerk’s Office available for public inspection from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and also on the website for the public to view.
