Rutherfordton Receives a grant from the Timken Foundation of Canton

The Town of Rutherfordton is pleased to announce that the Rutherfordton Fire Department has been awarded a $80,000 grant from the Timken Foundation of Canton. The grant will be used to fund new rescue tools for the fire department including new jaws of life, vehicle rescue tools and technical rope rescue equipment. Fire Chief Tommy Blanton said “ These funds will assist our department to provide the highest level of emergency care in the region, and ensure that our crews will have the best tools for any emergency they may face.” The Timken Foundation has awarded the Department grants in the past to include a grant in 2012 to purchase a brush and wildfire truck. “Having a corporate partner like Timken expands the Towns ability to deliver high quality services to our Community “said Mayor Jimmy Dancy
